Chiapas

Chiapas is largely nature. This green shred of Mexico encompasses one of the most complex biotic diversity of the country. Palenque

Visit the archaeological site of Palenque, the biggest city in the Maya world, where he admires the architecture and art master of the most advanced culture in Mesoamerica, with its inscriptions of the temple, palace, temple of the sun temple of the cross foliated and many more, the city where today has registered more than 200 temples still covered by forest. Named for the nearby community of Santo Domingo de Palenque, founded in the seventeenth century, the name under which the Maya knew at the time of the Conquest was Otulum, which in chol language means "walled city", but is not possible to say that I had this name when it was inhabited.Palenque was one of the most important cities in the Classic horizon and reached its apogee in the Late Classic, between the years 600 to 900 a.d, with a great influence throughout the region. In this city, partially hidden under the jungle, the Mayan architecture reached high quality, manifesting itself in structures such as The Temple of the Inscriptions, The Palace, the Temple of the Sun, the Countess, the cross and the foliated cross. Another aspect which is distinguished by the Palenque is the quality of his sculptures, among which the stone covering the tomb of King Pakal, discovered a passageway to scratch inside the Temple of the Inscriptions. Dashboards and steles, with bas-produced with a perfect artistic technique, makes this site one of the most impressive of the Mayan World. Within walking distance of the ruins there are several hotels and campsites. In the village, located 8 km, is fully serviced. Time to visit: Between mid-day and one day minimum. Agua Azul

These waterfalls of Agua Azul river originates, which is a series of natural pools through hills in a succession of rapids, water falls and backwaters of intense turquoise blue, where you can enjoy the breeze and the constant sound aquatic produces.

Bonampak

Renowned for its famous murals, the flowering of this metropolis, erected in the heart of the jungle, was performed in the classic late (650-900 AD). Their discovery is part of one of the great chapters of the archaeological exploration in Chiapas, as they allowed us to know a great heritage of the Mayan culture, as well as the extraordinary conception of color and line of their painters

Yaxchilan

This city is located between a thick vegetation, which covers a large part of their structures, so it is considered the prototype of the lost city in the jungle. A beautiful scene of evergreen forest is home to this magnificent archaeological site, which came to be a largest city in what has so far been able to identify. Within the city the biggest attraction is the museum, a site of great interest in where you can appreciate the great legacy of this historic archaeological area.

Tonina

Important ceremonial center of the Mayan Culture, in Tzeltal language the name means house of stone. Their construction, built on large bases pyramid, they present the characteristic bow Maya, in some of the temples are preserved lovely crest and ornaments of stucco walls representing deities and characters in the esplanade there is a large temple and two ball games, a completely renovated and another, larger, with benches attached to the walls and two rings of stone, one of them richly carved. Sumidero Canyon

Chiflón

A 38 kilometers Comitan de Dominguez is located the beautiful waterfall of the river San Vicente, known as the Chiflon. The landscape of the surrounding area noted for its sugar cane fields and palm groves. The climate is tropical in the Chiflon wet and the average temperature is 32 degrees centigrade, so we recommend comfortable clothing, preferably: shorts and tennis (swimsuit). The water temperature is cold but tolerable because it comes from the mountain, they say it has a lot of positive energy and healing properties due to the differential potential that exists for the free fall of the cascade of more than 70 meters high. The color of the water is turquoise blue, clear and very clean.

Montebello

Located 58 km from the Comitan, is the most beautiful lake area of the country. These gaps were declared National Park in 1959, covered with pines, oaks and jungles, where they proliferate orchids and ferns. Its waters vary from pale blue, violet intense, emerald green, the color of the stone agate, turquoise and the crystalline transparency, depending on the chemical composition of the funds lacustres.Entre the major gaps are: the Agua Tinta, the Esmeralda, Forest Blue, Encantada, the Montebello and Tziscao

San Cristóbal de las Casas

San Cristobal de las Casas is one of the most beautiful colonial cities of Mexico, and a charming site of the state of Chiapas. It owes its magic to the atmosphere in the viceregal that remain calm and quiet and their former strong indigenous traditions, in which the dense Mayan past still have a lot of weight. San Cristobal is also colorful crafts, exquisite cuisine, festivals, ceremonies full of mysticism, legends and a brilliant story.

San Juan Chamula - Zinacatan
