The cabins are hot pink and glaring yellow with blue shuttered floor-to-ceiling screen windows and thatched roofs. They all have big porches with a table and chairs and hammocks for relaxing. Inside, they are white, ample and airy. Because of the soaring palapa roofs, they feel huge. The town is small and one long, street. Following the signs to Escudo Jaguar passing two small and very basic-looking places offering rooms for rent. To the right are the ticket offices for boats to Yaxchilan and Bethel; straight ahead is the hotel restaurant and behind the restaurant are the cabins; and off to the side are the motel rooms and the hostel-like rooms.
